A not so long time ago, in a galaxy pretty darn close
actually, a fiendishly addictive game that involved launching furious birds at
cartoon pigs landed on our tablets and Smartphone. Since then the Angry Birds
phenomenon has spawned sequels, spin-off games and all manner of merchandise. Teaming
the ill-tempered avian with another merchandising behemoth that grew from
humble beginnings should delight fans of both then. Angry Birds Star Wars is
not just a simple paint job, either. This is a whole new game- but one that
happily retains the one-more-go addictiveness that Angry Birds is famous for. Levels
are based on familiar locations from the Star Wars universe, such as the desert
planet tatooine and the Death Star

The angry birds themselves have also been
given a Star Wars makeover, but the changes are more than just cosmetic-Obi-Wan
Kenobi birds not look like their Jedi master namesake, they can use the Fore
mid-air to push pigs and other items around the screen. Similarly, R2D2 birds
can fire electrical bolts. And you don't have to be a Star Wars fan to love it.
The game takes elements from the first Angry Birds and its sequel, Angry Birds
the most intricate and, in our view, the best in the series so far. If you've
never played an Angry Birds game before, then the aim of each level is
surprisingly simple: you catapult a bird towards a group of pigs in order to
'pop' them. You can use various items dotted around each level to help you in
your goal, and destroying all the pigs on a level using the fewest possible birds
is the secret to getting a high score

Thrash your friends
Attaining a three-star ranking in each level proves incredibly
addictive, and with Angry Birds Star Wars connected to Xbox Live you can
compete against your friends and compare scores-earning bragging rights over
your mates makes getting the highest total possible even more essential. There
are loads of levels included, and more to come in a free update that will add
the ice planet Hoth from The Empire Strikes Back. A lot of care and attention
has obviously gone into this game. The art looks wonderful and musical cues
from the movies demonstrate just how passionate Rovio-the people who makes
Angry Birds-are about the films.
