Beef souvlaki with tzatziki sauce and buttered rice

This popular grilled dish recalls the flavors of Greece. Serve with some warm pita bread for a more authentic experience

Serves 4 Prep Time 2 hours
Cooking Time 30 minutes

Beef souvlaki ingredients: 2 teaspoons dried oregano. 2 teaspoons ground cumin. 2 teaspoons minced garlic. 1 teaspoon salt. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. 1 tablespoon olive oil. 1/4 cup lemon juice. 1/4 cup vinegar. 1 kilo sirloin or tenderloin steak, cut into 1 and 1/2-inch cubes. 2 large red bell peppers. 4 medium sized onions, quartered. 1 cup tomatoes. 2 medium-sized pieces zucchini, sliced into half-moons

For the tazatziki sauce: 1/2 cup cucumber, seeds removed. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 small white onion, minced. 2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley. 2 teaspoons chopped fresh mint. 2 cups yogurt. Salt and pepper, to taste

For the buttered rice: 4 cups steamed white rice. 4 tablespoons butter, cubed

Beef souvlaki with tzatziki sauce and buttered rice recipe: 1- Combine oregano, cumin, garlic, salt, black pepper, olive oil, lemon juice, and vinegar in a bowl. Add beef and marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator. 2- Make the tzatziki sauce: Grate cucumber and squeeze out all the juice. Combine cucumber, garlic onion, parsley, and mint in a bowl. Mix in yogurt; season to taste with salt and pepper. keep in the refrigerator until ready to use. 3- Make the buttered rice: combine rice with butter. Mix well; keep warm. 4- Thread beef onto skewers, alternating with bell pepper, onions, tomatoes, and zucchini. 5- Prepare a charcoal grill or a grill pan. Grill kebabs to desired doneness. Serve with tzatziki sauce and buttered rice. By then, the Beef souvlaki is ready
